Newquay’s biggest ever community-led restoration project has finally brought Trenance Cottages back to life – ten years after its launch!
With parts of the old buildings dating back to the 1800s and a new extension added, the three original cottages, together with all the extra space, are now offering a new and special visitor experience.
Local residents, and those from farther afield, will now be able to step back in time to experience the way our Cornish ancestors lived as long ago as 1870 – two of the ‘heritage rooms’ still have the original cooking ranges in situ. Careful thought has been given to the addition of appropriate extra furnishings to give the cottages a 1920s and earlier feel. Stories of Trenance and its residents are told, as well as the history of Tourism in Newquay. This whole walk-through is free to enter.
The largest room is on offer to groups who may wish to hire it for meetings or exhibitions, and a wedding licence enables its use for romantic ceremonies in this most photogenic of locations!
Leased to two lovely ladies, Alex and Caroline, the cosy Wilton’s Tearoom in the Garden is a culinary delight to the palate, and their Shop will tempt those seeking well-chosen gifts of style and local flavour.
Stop by and enjoy this treasure of old Newquay!
